History

Mike Newton started his business career in the accounting industry but quickly found that his passion was with the computers he was using and not debits and credits.  PC’s were coming of age in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s and Mr. Newton decided it was time to work on a degree in Computer Information Systems. 

Shortly after starting his MBA program in CIS, he landed the job as the Data Processing Manager of the Atlanta Market Center.  When he started in 1990 the company had roughly 20 PC’s and an IBM System 38.  In 4 years, Mr. Newton grew the technology at the mart to over 200 PC’s which were all networked and pioneered Ethernet connectivity with the IBM AS/400.  This AS/400 Ethernet implementation was one of the first in the Southeast.

Mr. Newton moved on to work with various computer consulting firms in the 1990’s including a large IBM Business Partner but he soon realized that his entrepreneurial skills would lead to forming his own consulting firm.

By 2002, Newton Technology Services was formed and has remained a consistent player in the IT consulting field in Atlanta.  Many of our clients go back to the mid 90’s and moved with Mr. Newton when he formed his own company.

Through the years the industry has seen many changes and NTS has been there to learn and implement new technologies as they become relevant to our clients.  NTS has also partnered with other firms in Atlanta and across the country to complement each other’s skill sets.

In 2017, NTS moved from an hourly break/fix model to a Managed Service Provider model that bills per user per month.  The MSP model includes remote monitoring and management software, file sharing and backup software as well as anti-virus protection.  We are proud to offer a wide range of not only consulting knowledge but products that complement this knowledge.
